Art Majors

Dance

The FHSA Dance program provides the opportunity to perform onstage in a pre-professional, creative and team-oriented environment. In preparation for college, career and life-long artistic engagement, students will learn how to execute progressive Ballet, Modern, Jazz & Contemporary movement techniques, as well as create their own choreography. Dancers also build work with guest artists from professional dance companies, including Paul Taylor American Modern Dance, José Limón, and RIOULT Dance NY. Students receive opportunities to showcase their work in thematic dance concerts and festival performances. As a Dance major students will stretch beyond their comfort zones to develop their individual artistic voice and sense of personal expression. Successful students conduct themselves professionally both in class and rehearsals, and contribute to a mutually respectful, judgment-free atmosphere.
