The FHSA Dance program provides the opportunity to perform onstage in a pre-professional, creative and team-oriented environment. In preparation for college, career and life-long artistic engagement, students will learn how to execute progressive Ballet, Modern, Jazz & Contemporary movement techniques, as well as create Dance Compositions of their own. Students receive opportunities to present their own self-created work in dance department concerts and festivals. Throughout the 4 years in Dance, the goal is to develop each individual student’s artistic voice and sense of personal expression by being taken beyond one’s comfort zone and perceived limits. He or she must be able to adhere to professional expectations in class and rehearsals, and contribute to a mutually respectful, judgment-free atmosphere.
